Barros & Errázuriz, together with the member firms of the Affinitas alliance (Gómez – Pinzón, Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes; Miranda & Amado) to which it belongs, launched the call for the Mootcomp 2021 project. It is an Antitrust competition, focused on students of Law and Economics.
This competition has been successfully held in Mexico for 5 years, organized by the Firm Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés and Fuentes. Now, Affinitas has decided to extend the experience to all of their respective countries.
What is MOOTCOMP?
The contest consists of teams from different Latin American countries, made up of Law and Economics students who are studying any year of the degree, or who are doing diplomas or masters in Antitrust, compete with each other, in the resolution of a case fictitious in this matter.
The teams must go through stages and are evaluated by a jury, made up of lawyers and Antitrust authorities, from the member countries of the Affinitas alliance – Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. In the case of Chile, there will be the participation of representatives of the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office.
Last year, the initiative reached a participation of 480 students, 118 teams, 98 coaches and 130 judges.
On the Chilean side, Francisco Bórquez, partner of the Antitrust area of Barros & Errázuriz, is the one who is leading the activity.
