On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, the Executive submitted to the Senate Legislative Bulletin No. 16.552-12, which aims to reform Law No. 19.300 on the General Bases of the Environment and other regulatory bodies, in order to strengthen environmental institutions and improve their efficiency, modifying the Environmental Impact Assessment System. This project arises within the framework of the guidelines of the so-called Pro-Growth and Employment Cabinet to accelerate public and private investment, and is one of its first concrete results.
Likewise, on the same date, the Chamber of Deputies received Legislative Bulletin No. 16.553-12, which seeks to amend Law No. 20.417, which creates the Superintendence of the Environment and other regulatory bodies to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of the supervision and enforcement of environmental regulation by the Superintendence of the Environment.
