Electricity Tariff Protection Law

On July 31, 2026, Law No. 21,833 on Electricity Tariff Protection was published in Chile’s Official Gazette, introducing significant amendments to the regulatory framework governing the Chilean electricity sector.

Among its key measures are the voluntary renegotiation of power purchase agreements (PPAs), the expansion of the Tariff Stabilization Fund, the regularization of electricity distribution and transmission tariff processes, the creation of a mechanism to finance the Tariff Normalization Balance, and new provisions aimed at strengthening the security and reliability of the electricity supply.
