April 26, 2018

Affinitas, the leading alliance of independent law firms in Latin America, of which Barros & Errázuriz is a member, announces that Juan Mijares is leaving the post of executive secretary after two and a half years of successful management. As of May 1, 2018, Juan Luis Avendaño Cisneros, partner of the Peruvian firm Miranda & Amado, will assume the position after being elected by the partners of the member companies of the alliance.

Affinitas wishes to thank Juan Mijares for his work and valuable contribution to the success of Affinitas. We wish you the best in your return to the exercise as a counselor at the Mexican firm Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés and Fuentes. Likewise, we wish Juan Luis Avendaño the best of luck in this new role.

In a meeting of partners held this month in Mexico, the elected secretary announced an ambitious growth strategy that will focus on the alliance’s ability to provide a more integrated and fluid service to its clients throughout the region.

Avendaño said: “Affinitas is the backbone of the international strategy of its member firms. The alliance has become an integrated platform for cross-border operations, which is capable of handling the work of the highest level of complexity and demand for global companies that focus their attention on Latin America. It is an honor to take on the position of executive secretary and I look forward to working with all partners in the alliance. ”

Since its creation in 2004, Affinitas represents the joint effort of four independent firms and legal leaders in the countries of the Pacific Alliance: Chile (Barros & Errázuriz), Colombia (Gómez-Pinzón), Mexico (Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés and Fuentes) and Peru (Miranda & Amado). Each firm is considered a market leader in each of the jurisdictions in which it operates. Affinitas offers its clients an impeccable, integrated, first level legal service and under the same ethical and quality standards throughout the region through prominent independent firms that work as if they were one.
