Regulations governing mediation, conciliation and arbitration in consumer matters

On Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the Regulation that regulates Mediation, Conciliation and Arbitration in consumer matters (the “Regulation”) was published in the Official Gazette, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 19,496 on the Protection of Consumer Rights (“LPDC”). Through the issuance of the Regulation, the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, in compliance with the provisions of article 3, second paragraph and by virtue of the provisions of article 62 of the LPDC, has established the rules regarding the proper application of these alternative mechanisms for the resolution of consumer disputes that may arise between consumers and suppliers, both financial and non-financial.
