The Ministry of Energy published Supreme Decree No. 32 of 2026, introducing significant amendments to the Regulations for the Coordination and Operation of the National Electricity System.
The reform introduces new definitions for energy storage and generation-consumption systems, establishes rules governing curtailments and allocation mechanisms, provides greater regulatory certainty for the participation of energy storage systems in electricity markets, and strengthens the requirements applicable to projects seeking construction status.
These changes are expected to have a significant impact on the planning, development, and operation of energy projects in Chile.
