On December 18, 2018, the bill that seeks to modify Law 20,551 entered the Senate. This law “Regulates the closure of mining operations and installations”. The project seeks to alleviate the financial burden that the owners of mining projects must assume in order to comply with said regulations, given the difficulty that this generates, which in some cases has even meant not being able to carry out their mining project.
The project is aimed at helping mainly medium-sized mining companies, who may have more flexibility and slack for the purposes of constituting the guarantees required by the law of closure of work.
