On April 20th , 2023, President Gabriel Boric announced the strategy that Chile will adopt from now on to promote the lithium industry, seeking to position the country as a world’s leading exporter of this mineral, hand in hand with extractive responsibility, protection of ecosystems and a strong emphasis on public-private partnerships.

Five key elements were pointed out to set the tone and the next milestones in the development of the national lithium industry as part of the Strategy:

1. Creation of the National Lithium Company
2. Public-private collaboration principle
3. New technologies and promotion of research
4. Community participation
5. Tax revenue
